As part of the ‘1 to 1′ netbook project , I have been working with a number of schools to look at how Google SketchUp can be used in the classrooom. And while there are plenty of good videos to show how to get started with the tools, I wanted to try out a new screencasting program so I created my own short tutorial. I hope it’s useful to someone! You can download it here if you are not subscribed via the podcast .

I’ve also found a new website dedicated to resources around screencasting. Check it out here: http://scrast.net It looks like it is a great place for all of your screencasting needs.

A short introduction to using Scratch , the free multimedia software from MIT. I outline why you I think you should be using it and my thoughts on the software. This is an enhanced podcast with chapters and presentation slides so you will need to use iTunes to listen and view the content.

One of the things I have enjoyed the most this term is working with students to create games in Scratch. Our students have benefitted greatly from having access to this free, constructionist software. Oh yeah, it’s been great fun too!
So in an effort to put something back into the Scratch community and create some resources for teachers and students, I have created a screencast showing how to create the game of ‘Pong’ using Scratch. Feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

The direct download will be better quality than the embedded Teach Tube video above.
Correction: When sensing for the ball to hit the paddle and send it back, the correct instructions should be “direction * -1″ not “direction +180″.
